Welcome to the CIHF (Canadian Independent Hockey Federation) The CIHF is an organization for Independent Hockey in Canada and will provide leadership, unique player, coach, and referee development programs, education, and insurance to participants. The CIHF is recognized as a leader and innovator in Canada and will work to align teams that are participating in Independent Leagues/Programs in a common direction.
CIHF is affiliated with AAU Ice hockey. The Amateur Athletic Union is one of the largest non-profit volunteer sports organizations in the United States.The AAU was founded in 1888 as a multi-sport organization dedicated to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs. AAU focuses on providing sports programs for all participants of all age levels beginning at the local and regional levels
This affiliation with the AAU allows the CIHF and its members the opportunity to host NIHF and AAU winter tournaments for teams from all over the North America. CIHF teams will also have the opportunity to compete in other tournaments across the North America as well.
The CIHF is sanctioned by the NIHF (National Independent Hockey Federation) and is partnered with the NFPHL (National Futures Prospect Hockey League) in the USA to grow Independent Hockey throughout North America. The CIHF mandate is to grow Canadian Independent Hockey and ensure the needs of Canadian Teams is protected at the NIHF level.
